16-Day Egypt Tour Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival in Cairo

Upon arrival at Cairo airport, you will be greeted by our representative who will assist you and provide transfers to your hotel in Cairo. Settle into your accommodation for the evening, relax and enjoy the views of Cairo at night. In case your flight to Cairo arrives at an earlier time, before your tour with us officially starts, we can help you arrange an earlier transfer to your hotel at an extra cost.

Day 2 – Cairo – Saqqara – Dahshur – Memphis

Begin your day with a journey to Saqqara, an ancient burial ground that boasts the iconic Step Pyramid, the first pyramid ever built, attributed to the visionary architect Imhotep. Delve further into Saqqara’s history as you visit the Titi Pyramid and wander among the elaborate tombs of nobles, adorned with intricate hieroglyphs and fascinating reliefs.

Next, venture to Dahshur, a lesser-known but equally captivating necropolis located just south of Saqqara. Here, you’ll encounter the enigmatic Bent Pyramid, named for its distinctive sloping sides, and the imposing Red Pyramid, which stands as a testament to ancient Egyptian engineering prowess. After a morning of exploration, indulge in a delicious lunch at Saqqara, where you’ll have the opportunity to sample authentic Egyptian cuisine. Then, continue your journey to Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt and home to the Colossi of Ramses, towering statues that once adorned the temple complex dedicated to the god Ptah. Explore the remnants of this once-great city, including archaeological sites and artifacts that offer glimpses into the daily life and royal splendor of ancient Egypt.

Day 3 – Cairo – Giza – Egyptian Museum – Downtown Cairo

Today, you will set out on an excursion to explore the iconic Great Pyramid of Giza, a testament to human ingenuity and the only remaining wonder of the ancient world. At the same location, stand in the shadow of the enigmatic Sphinx, guardian of the pyramids, and explore the ancient mysteries of the Valley Temple.

Afterwards, indulge in a delicious lunch at Abo Tarek and try the flavors of Koshari, a beloved Egyptian delicacy that combines rice, lentils, pasta, and a tangy tomato sauce.

Next, delve into the rich tapestry of Egypt’s history with a visit to either the Egyptian Museum or the Grand Egyptian Museum, home to an extensive collection of artifacts, treasures, and mummies from ancient Egyptian civilization.

As today’s excursion comes to an end, take a leisurely stroll through Downtown Cairo and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Tahrir Square and the bustling streets lined with historic buildings, colorful markets, and charming cafes.

Day 4 – Luxor – Nile Cruise Tour – Luxor & Karnak Temples

Take an early transfer to the airport to board a short flight to Luxor, where you will embark on your Nile river cruise for the next 5 days. After settling into your accommodation on the cruise, enjoy lunch onboard before setting out on your first day of exploration in Luxor.

Observe the intricately etched columns of Karnak’s Great Hypostyle Hall, wander its courtyard and the granite statues of Ramses II ( Ramses the Great), the Obelisks of Queen Hatshepsut and Tuthmosis III. Then, delve into the open-air temple complex dedicated to the revered ancient Egyptian deities, such as Amun. Conclude your day by visiting the illuminated Luxor temple itself, where towering columns and monumental statues are brought to life, showcasing the timeless grandeur of this historic site.

Day 5 – Luxor – Dahabiya Cruise

After an early breakfast, take a morning excursion to visit the Temple of Hatshepsut, a symbol of the achievements of ancient Egypt’s notable female Pharaoh. Then, head to the Valley of the Kings, where you can enter a royal tomb and marvel at the array of 64 tombs, each with its unique size and complexity. Ranging from simple pits to elaborate chambers with over 120 royal rooms, this site also features the Colossus of Memnon and ongoing archaeological efforts.

After a morning of exploration, you will take a transfer from Luxor to Esna, located 50 km south. Upon arrival in Esna you will be welcomed by a friendly crew aboard your Dahabiya sailing boat. After you have settled into your accommodations you’ll set sail to arrive at El Hegz Island, where you will have the opportunity to disembark and explore the villages. Later in the evening, you will be served dinner onboard the Dahabiya.

Day 6 – Dahabiya Cruise – El Kab – Edfu

Day 7 – Dahabiya Cruise – El Selsela

Begin your day with a visit to Bisaw Island and village and observe the rhythms of rural life along the river. You can participate in Nile fishing, which is a timeless tradition passed down through generations, and explore the charming village, where friendly locals will welcome you with warm hospitality and insights into their daily lives.

Afterwards, you will continue sailing towards El Selsela, a site steeped in ancient history and natural beauty. Here, you’ll visit the ancient sandstone quarry, where skilled craftsmen once extracted the stone used to build Egypt’s most iconic monuments. Marvel at the colossal pillars and intricate carvings that bear witness to the ingenuity of ancient Egyptian artisans.

Day 8 – Dahabiya Cruise – Aswan

Prepare for another day of exploration as your Dahabiya cruise continues towards Aswan. Begin with a visit to the fascinating Kom Ombo Temple, dedicated to Haroeris and Sobek, followed by a stop at the Crocodile Museum. Then, dive into the vibrant atmosphere of Daraw market and Nubian Town, where you can interact with locals and experience daily life along the Nile.

Optional swimming or kayaking offers a refreshing break before enjoying a farewell dinner onboard the Dahabiya, as you sail towards Aswan on your last night aboard the boat.

Day 9 – Aswan

Day 10 – Abu Simbel – Cairo

Day 11 – Alexandria

After breakfast, take a transfer to Alexandria, Egypt’s historic Mediterranean port city. Day 14 – Fayoum Oasis – Whale Valley Camping

Today you’ll go on an exciting desert safari to El Fayoum Oasis, a tranquil haven nestled amidst the vast expanse of the Sahara Desert. Traverse the rugged terrain, soak in the breathtaking scenery and immerse yourself in the timeless beauty of the desert landscape. Along the way, explore ancient temples, ruins, and archaeological sites that dot the oasis.

Day 16 – Coptic Cairo

On your last day in Cairo there are still some iconic landmarks left to explore. Then, continue on to the Abu Serga Church, believed to be built on the spot where the Holy Family sought refuge during their flight into Egypt. Next, pay a visit to the Coptic Museum to explore centuries of history through its captivating exhibits.

Later, ascend to the Citadel to admire the grandeur of the Alabaster Mosque and take in panoramic views of Cairo’s skyline. Following this you’ll recharge with a delicious lunch at El Azhar Park, located in a spot that offers a tranquil escape from the bustling main city.
